Yes, it seems to work!

In May, I wrote about the therapeutic benefits of drawing, and in June I started a Therapeutic Drawing group.  The program focuses on doodling patterns, not realistic reproductions. It’s not an ‘art class’, and people with little artistic confidence can join, and enjoy.  I share patterns I have been using for many years and some of the activities I experienced during Lisa Congdon’s Creative Bootcamp online series.

Even though the aim of the group is to experience relaxation and self regulation, I am amazed how everyone is producing really good looking and unique art work.  Most of the participants haven’t drawn since kindergarten! And yes, participants tell me that their stress levels are down.  Today, they felt so relaxed, they said there was no need for our usual guided relaxation!
